Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions – Why Jordan Vexler is Going Green

Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions, located in San Antonio, Texas, has made the switch to green machines for its full-service metal recycling facility. Starting over one hundred years ago, Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions is now a fourth-generation family-owned and run by CEO Jordan Vexler. Vexler’s great-grandfather began the company by traveling back and forth from Monterrey, Mexico, and San Antonio, ultimately settling down in San Antonio. Two SENNEBOGEN 830s and one 835 assist Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions with their stationary equipment, such as their shears and shredder, which break down metal into smaller pieces so that it can be melted down and manufactured into new products.

The Switch to Green

“Before I purchased my first SENNEBOGEN, we had run three different brands of material handlers,” explained Jordan Vexler, “Since my first purchase of a SENNEBOGEN, we have not gone back.”

The appeal for SENNEBOGEN came from the ease of maintaining a Cummins engine, access to technical knowledge on the machines, maximizing uptime, and the purpose-built aspects of the machines. “SENNEBOGENs really are purpose-built for our industry. They aren’t just a conversion or mesh of equipment, but instead are built tough and for us to be able to maintain ourselves.”

“We’ve been purchasing SENNEBOGEN material handlers for about 5 years now, and I have not purchased a different color machine since. Our other machines have either been sold off from our facility or are just waiting to be replaced.”

More Uptime = More Production

Performing regular preventative maintenance and staying consistent with daily maintenance on Monterrey’s SENNEBOGENs has led to more efficient operations. “Compared to other material handlers, our SENNEBOGENs have a lot more uptime, which is the way we are able to increase our production,” said Vexler, “We depend on our material handlers to move metal for our stationary equipment, and when they are down, we are down.”

SENNEBOGEN’s service network and customer technician training furthers the autonomy of maintaining machines at Monterrey Iron and Metals Recycling. “These days, there are just not enough technicians to go around, so to be able to use SENNEBOGEN-trained techs or our own has guaranteed much more uptime.” “From the beginning, Sennebogen has been transparent about access to service and parts information. We contact them directly and get all the files we need to work on the machines ourselves.”

“The Machine Can Do the Work”

“Our operators really appreciate them,” said Jordan Vexler, “I certainly know the material handlers our operators are not a fan of, and they don’t feel that way about our Sennebogens.”

“That SENNEBOGEN is the best,” said Jose Ricarte, who has been an operator at Monterrey Iron and Metals Recycling for over thirty years. “It’s a top-grade machine. You don’t have to worry about it failing; the machine can do the work.”

Family-Owned Working With Family-Owned

“I’ve really enjoyed working with the SENNEBOGEN team,” said Vexler, “Every single person I have met within SENNEBOGEN has been extremely knowledgeable. They aren’t just equipment-focused, they are industry-focused.”

SENNEBOGEN partnered with Monterrey Metal Recycling Solutions and their shredder OEM under ReMA to bring roughly 150 shredder operators from around the country to tour Vexler’s facility. They not only shared good practices of their operation, but SENNEBOGEN also gave a tour of their material handlers and training on how to run them. “It was about being open and learning from one another, and it was a great experience.”
