How Becoming An Authorized Service Provider Was An Opportunity For Growth: Sargents Equipment & Repair Service

Based out of Chicago Heights, IL, Sargents Equipment has been a part of the SENNEBOGEN network as an Authorized Service Provider for four years. They have been in business since 2004, currently operating out of two locations in Illinois and one in Wisconsin, with a total of thirty-two service technicians who travel throughout the country to aid their customers with installations and repairs. Mike Sargent Sr., owner of Sargents Equipment, saw the Authorized Service Program as an opportunity for growth, so when he was approached by SENNEBOGEN to become an ASP, he jumped right in. Becoming a SENNEBOGEN ASP

Becoming a SENNEBOGEN ASP

For Sargents Equipment, the process for becoming an Authorized Service Provider was easy. “We were already dealing with SENNEBOGEN from a parts standpoint, so it took about two days to get us signed up,” Sargent Sr. explained, “all we see are SENNEBOGENs in the Midwest, which is a reason why we decided to become an ASP.

“This was a natural fit for us,” he said, “I’d like to think we are the company you call at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon when you are down.” Because of this, getting parts and information with as little downtime as possible is a top priority for Sargents Equipment. “A big part of our business is parts and backup. Our customers feel a lot more comfortable with us when they know we have the factory backing us up.”

SENNEBOGEN’s Training Program

Sargents Equipment currently has eight SENNEBOGEN-trained technicians split between their north and south shops in Illinois, with plans to train more. Mike Sargent Sr. has seen a positive impact on the company’s technicians after attending SENNEBOGEN’s free training in Stanley, NC. “The training program is outstanding. We are a true believer in training and keeping our techs up-to-date with the current machines and training.”

“The training is great there, their instructors are really knowledgeable,” said Mike Sargent Jr., a service technician for Sargents Equipment who has attended E1, E2, D-series, and 480V classes. He also appreciates SENNEBOGEN’s learning hub, an online training platform that he and other technicians can access anywhere and anytime. “The learning hub has a lot of good troubleshooting information on it, so you don’t have to call and ask, ‘What do I do here?’”

Equipped For Anything With Uptime Kits

One of the first actions Mike Sargent Sr. took when becoming an Authorized Service Provider was purchasing five or six of each Uptime Kit that SENNEBOGEN offers. “I felt that it was important to hit the ground running when we were starting. That way, when we got service requests, we could go to the customer with repair parts in our service vehicles.”

Sargents Equipment’s technicians feel that having Uptime Kits makes the job easier. “I travel all over, the Uptime Kits we bring come in handy,” said Jon Trubach, a service technician for Sargents Equipment.

Brad Newenhouse, General Service Manager, also sees the benefit of SENNEBOGEN Uptime Kits. “With the uptime kits, you can get anything from plug caps to grease lines to electrical components for when you need to get back up and running.”

“When You Need It Now”

“Our philosophy is ‘When you need it now.’ Whether it’s a big corporation or a family-owned business, uptime is everything to them when their equipment is down,” said Mike Sargent Sr., “Our responsibility to the customer is to send our fully-equipped and trained service people out to their location and get them up and running as soon as possible. The help of SENNEBOGEN helps us out in the field.

“Reaction time is huge in our business. You can get good support, but if it isn’t in a timely manner, it doesn’t really help. SENNEBOGEN’s reaction time is what I enjoy.”

Brad Newnhouse also feels that the relationship with SENNEBOGEN has benefited Sargents Equipment. “We have had a very good experience in all aspects of parts and service, and have had very good feedback from our technicians. I think SENNEBOGEN has done a great job with the ASP program and has supported our technicians through parts, service, and warranty.”
