EMR is a global leader in sustainable materials that reuses, repurposes and recycles around 10 million tons of materials every year. EMR’s location in New Castle, Delaware, recently welcomed a new addition to its operation – a SENNEBOGEN 825E. At EMR New Castle alone, the team welcomes between 300 and 400 customers daily, dropping off both ferrous and non-ferrous metals that will become tomorrow’s products. Efficiency is key – not only to keep these materials moving around the circular economy, but also to keep EMR New Castle’s operations running sustainably. The new SENNEBOGEN 825E feeds materials into the baler and feeds into the company’s efficiency objectives, too.

Out With The Old, In With The Green

EMR’s SENNEBOGEN 825E arrived less than a month ago, and the team has seen nothing but positives. “We typically see about 20-30 tons of ferrous material and 10,000 pounds of non-ferrous material come in every day,” explained Rebecca Phillippi, Depot Manager at EMR New Castle, “We bought a SENNEBOGEN because we needed something that could handle that kind of volume.”

Another EMR location made the switch to green two years ago when it was in need of a new machine, which influenced the decision to bring the 825E to New Castle. “We were very pleased with the way it performed and its reach. Everything went extremely well,” said Randy Orr, Operations Manager for EMR. When the time came to introduce a new piece of equipment to New Castle, Orr “obviously went with SENNEBOGEN again.”

Reach for the Stars (and Scrap Pile)

One of the improvements SENNEBOGEN had over EMR’s older equipment was the reach. “The SENNEBOGEN has a better reach, which improves our operational efficiency,” explained Randy, “It’s new to here, but the team at New Castle has given me rave reviews so far.”

Paul Talley, operator of the 825E, enjoys the comfort and safety aspects of the machine. “It’s perfect for a scrap yard,” he praised, “The catwalk is phenomenal, it’s got a lot of power, you can see more, it’s easy to service. You can’t go wrong.”

Along with improved efficiency and operator comfort, Randy estimates savings in service and repairs. “The fact that we won’t have to put so much money and time into servicing and repairs is something we are looking forward to for the future.”

Level of Support

Even though EMR New Castle has owned its 825E for a short time, its team has already felt the support from SENNEBOGEN. “So far it’s been a really positive experience,” said Rebecca, “The SENNEBOGEN team is very supportive and responsive.” Randy had similar thoughts to Rebecca, describing the support he and his team feel as phenomenal. “Any type of issues we’ve had, SENNEBOGEN has been extremely responsive and drops
everything to try and help us out.”

A representative from SENNEBOGEN arrived soon after the delivery of EMR’s 825E to familiarize the team with the material handler, which “went a long way, because it is a little different from the previous brand we were using,” explained Orr.
